Railfare DC Books
Canadian National Steam

by Donald McQueen
This book is an illustrated history of Canadian National Railways' over 4000 steam locomotives, so detailed and
full of photographs it must be published in a multi-volume series.
Volume I, containing about 240 pages, will be an updated and expanded text based on Clegg and Corley's
Canadian National Steam Power, outlining the development of steam power as influenced by the different Motive
Power Chiefs. It will include a summary of all classes with wheel types, road numbers and builder, and a list
of all owners of CNR power (predecessors and subsequent entities), a buildre's list of CNR steam power, a bibliography,
plus hundreds of photos, many in colour. You'll get a guide to the individual roster volumes, plus extended appendices
covering across-the-classes items such as livery, sales and leases, appliance application, (including compounding, gearing,
superheating, feedware heating, smoke deflectors, stokers, oil burners, cab and tender designs.)
