In Store - Clinics Introduction:
The Credit Valley Railway Company is pleased to announce our own in-house clinic program. At our new
location, we designed this program with you in mind, as we now have an on-site clinic room. We can now offer
our customers more than just terrific products and information from our
knowledgeable sales staff, but also targeted instruction on a wide range of model railroading techniques and products. You, the modeller, can now participate in structured clinics where you can learn by doing and asking questions in a friendly atmosphere. No other model train location in Canada can provide this kind of leadership, which is our whole objective;
to provide you with the most comprehensive experience in model railroading.
How Do The Clinic's work?
We have broken down our 'clinics' into 5 categories:
1. Manufacturer's Show Case - From time to time we will have manufacturers or sales representatives from some of the top model railway companies in the world come by and offer a look
into their newest products. Here you will be able to interact, ask questions and see first hand all the exciting products coming to market and your layout! These Manufacturer Show Case events are free and may or may not need pre-registration to attend.
2. Hands-On Clinic - You will be given instruction, and then under the watchful eye of our instructors, you'll build the subject project. Each participant will get to take home their project
at the end of the clinic. The objective is not necessarily to finish the project, but to learn the techniques in order to make you a more confident modeller. Each participant
will need to bring his/her own tools from a tool list we will provide. Participants under the age of 18 are not recommended.
A charge for Hands-On Clinics will vary with each project and time allotted. Pre-registration will be
required for such clinics.
3. Class Room Clinic - A type of clinic where you will sit in a class room setting and be taught several modelling techniques. This will typically include Power
Point presentations or some kind of visual aid to promote your understanding of the subject. There will also be an opportunity for hands-on instruction.
A
charge for Class Room Clinics will vary with the project and time allotted. Pre-registration will be required for such clinics.
4. In-Store Demo - These short informative clinics or demos, are fast paced and will show you new products, tips and hints on how to use products right off the shelf.
There is no cost or Pre-registration to these demos and they will take place in the store on a scheduled basis. Check back
often to see what's next!
5. "What's Going On In There?" Clinic - This is not a formal clinic, but rather an opportunity to walk in and see what's going on in our clinic room any time it's 'open'. We will be offering
building services for layouts, so walk in and have a look at complete layouts being constructed; you never know what you might learn.
Our Clinic Team:
Our team is guided by our Lead Clinic Instructor, Clark Kooning, MMR, CRC. Clark is a well-known local modeller and holds the degree of Master Model Railroader from the National Model Railroad Association(NMRA)
and holds Canadian Railway Craftsman degree from the Canadian Association of Model Railway Modellers (CARM). In addition to winning several model contests and having done clinics all around North America, Clark
is also the lead instructor for the NMRA program called 'Modeling with the Masters'. We are also lucky to have several staff associates who will bring their expertise to the clinic program
throughout the year. Guest instructors will also be on the agenda, so watch our clinic schedule often.
All Clinic Prices are subject to 13% HST
